This video series on the societal implications of new technology adoption in remote areas is well produced and engaging. I was surprised when I discovered that it was an OER!

It includes a booklet that my students and I can download to guide discussions around the topics raised in the videos, as well as a series of reflective essay questions that have been shared by other students and faculty around the world.

This OER video series appeals to me because I can easily introduce it into my curriculum. The booklet that we can download also has a CC BY NC license, which means that I can adapt the discussion questions included to better fit my teaching needs, and then re-publish it again under CC BY NC. This series fits perfectly into a module that I already have in my class – in a place where I was struggling to find appropriate content outside of the textbook to share with my students.

Even if this is the only OER I adopt, I am certain it will make a great impact on student learning in my classes. I also really like how the booklet includes essay questions that were developed by other students and faculty. I may have my students contribute to the questions as well!
