Objetivos por unidad
UNIDAD 1:
- Learn the vowels in Spanish.
- Learn the alphabet and all the sounds in Spanish (including some regional differences).
- Learn how to form consonant and vowel groups and how to pronounce them.
- Learn about similarities and differences between Spanish and English sounds and cognates (words that look and mean the same as words you already know).
UNIDAD 2:
- Learn the beginning concepts and rules for dividing words into syllables to determine the stress of a word. Learn about enunciation and intonation to achieve authentic pronunciation.
- Learn how to write basic sentences and ask/answer a variety of simple questions.
- Learn how to greet others in formal and informal situations and say goodbye politely.
- Learn to introduce yourself and others and provide basic personal information in a polite way
- Learn numbers for providing information.
- Learn what subjects, pronouns, and adjectives are while recognizing if they are singular or plural, feminine or masculine.
- Learn what SER and TENER mean, when to use the verbs and their conjugations.
- Learn how to express likes and dislikes.
UNIDAD 3:
- Learn how to identify the gender and number of Spanish words to achieve agreement.
- Learn about definite articles and their usage rules.
- Review how to divide words into syllables and the rules associated with each word’s stressed syllable to achieve authentic pronunciation.
- Gain the ability to read, write, listen and speak about vocabulary related to school and professions while indicating your preferences about your studies.
- Understand the structures associated with telling time and the date.
- Recognition of some irregular verbs and how to conjugate them.
- Learn the question words (interrogatives) in Spanish.
- Learn to express how you are and where you are.
- Understand some grammatical structures in Spanish to form sentences and questions correctly.
UNIDAD 4:
- Codify the sounds in Spanish alphabet.
- Listen to the different Spanish accents.
- Understand the Spanish intonation.
- Learn about family and adjective vocabulary to be able to describe your family and home.
- Identify objects in the home and discuss what you want in your home.
- Expand your ability to speak about what you do presently.
- Review grammar structures for more consistent usage in speech and writing.
- Understand the concept of indirect objects and indirect object pronouns.
- Differentiate clarifying, emphasizing and redundancy reduction with the indirect object pronouns.
- Understand the concept of direct objects and direct object pronouns
- Create sentences with both direct and indirect objects pronouns.
- Express activities related to daily routines and personal care.
- Speak and write Spanish avoiding redundancy.
UNIDAD 5:
- Learn and use various manners to show possession
- Learn and apply the concepts for Spanish phonics that lead to spelling changes.
- Learn the differences between “conocer vs saber”.
- Review Spanish language characteristics.
- Fluency through linking words.
- Learn the rules for Spanish punctuation and capitalization.
- Review some of the more challenging grammar concepts to date.
- Progress in reading comprehension and gain exposure to another mood in Spanish.
