Appendix A

Here is a link to the guided worksheet, Research Projects for Beginners: A Guided Journey. Click the link above to be prompted to make your own copy of the Guided Research Worksheets document described in this chapter. Once you have made your copy, it is yours to adapt as you wish. Feel free to make the narrative your own, adjust the assignment parameters to work within the scope of your course, the research methodology to best meet your learning objectives, etc.

Here are some important usage notes:

1. Read the guide carefully to adapt the content to your course and needs. This guide was written for a specific course, and not all of the content may be applicable to your course. This guide requires adaptation.
2. Each of the three Collaborate boxes have a hyperlink attached to the icon picture on the left side of the dark gray box (the model in the introduction does not). Those hyperlink prompts you to make a copy of the Collaborate worksheet. Once you have made your copy, create your “sharing” link and embed it into the icon picture. To embed a link into a picture in Google Docs, click the image, and select “Insert link” from the menu bar.
3. When your guide is ready for student use, share it with them by clicking the “Share” button. Select “Anyone with the link” and choose “Editor” from the drop-down menu. Once you have copied your link, paste it into a notepad or similar, and delete “edit?usp=sharing” from the end of the code. Replace it with the word “copy”. This enables students to click that link and make their own copy of the guided worksheets.
